FYI: Outcomes for drug-exposed
children eight years after adoption

  • In a survey of over 2,500 adoptive parents, researchers found that children with pre-natal drug exposure functioned very much like other adopted children in educational attainment, emotional adjustment, and behavioral adjustment.

  • The only significant difference was that children with pre-natal drug exposure were more likely than other adopted children (56.6% versus 30.2%) to be enrolled in a class for children with learning disabilities.
