Transfer small amounts (sour cream, yogurt, etc.) to an appopriate
sized
containe
r.
They last much longer.
- Grate your own cheese. It takes
seconds!
- Freeze scouring pads. They last
much longer.
- Cheap paper towels are all that's
needed in most cases. Double them for bigger jobs.
- Eat more in-season fruits and
vegetables.
- Freeze milk if you know you
won't use it before the expiration date.
- Make homemade popsicles by freezing
fruit juice in small paper cups; add a spoon or tongue depressor
for the handle.
- Watch for sales. Stock up on
quantity for those items you use regularly and that have a long
shelf life (e.g., soap, laundry detergent).
- Freeze leftover iced tea.
- Cook poultry giblets for your
dogs. They'll love you for
it.
- Never go to the market hungry.
- Keep parsley in the freezer
all ready for use, after washing stemming, and drying it.
