{"id":1247,"date":"2017-05-10T20:58:16","date_gmt":"2017-05-10T20:58:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fosteringperspectives.org\/?p=1247"},"modified":"2017-10-26T19:18:18","modified_gmt":"2017-10-26T19:18:18","slug":"parenting-a-child-with-an-idd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fosteringperspectives.org\/?p=1247","title":{"rendered":"Parenting a Child with an IDD?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fosteringperspectives.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/ncstate-.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1250\" src=\"https:\/\/fosteringperspectives.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/ncstate-.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"180\" height=\"87\" \/><\/a>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cfface.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Center for Family and Community Engagement at NC State University<\/a> is conducting a study about foster care services for youth diagnosed with an intellectual or developmental disability (IDD).<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of the study is to learn about the experiences of foster parents of a child diagnosed with IDD, the challenges faced by foster youth with IDD, and any services that would be helpful for these youth and their foster families.<\/p>\n<p>Foster parents who are caring for a child with IDD, or who have cared for one in the past, are needed to participate in focus groups with a researcher and 4-6 other foster caregivers.<\/p>\n<p>We hope to begin focus groups in June 2017 and hold them throughout the summer. Each group will last approximately 1.5 to 2 hours and will occur at a time and place convenient for participants.
