{"id":1971,"date":"2021-04-12T14:05:36","date_gmt":"2021-04-12T14:05:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fosteringperspectives.org\/?p=1971"},"modified":"2021-04-21T19:29:01","modified_gmt":"2021-04-21T19:29:01","slug":"resource-parents-and-ncs-permanency-commitment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fosteringperspectives.org\/?p=1971","title":{"rendered":"Resource parents and NC\u2019s permanency commitment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In North Carolina\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/301ZMyq\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2020-2024 Child and Family Services Plan<\/a>, a 5-year strategic plan for its child welfare system, our state makes the following commitment to permanency:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Children and youth in the foster care program will experience stability in foster care and achieve permanency in a timely manner and youth who do not achieve permanency will transition successfully into adulthood.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This issue of <em>Fostering Perspectives<\/em> spotlights the important role foster and adoptive parents and kinship caregivers play in North Carolina\u2019s efforts to live up to this commitment.<\/p>\n<p>Their role is large. Children and their families, judges, social workers, and everyone else\u2014we all rely on resource parents to understand what permanence is, why it matters, and how to support it.<\/p>\n<p>That resource parents do so in a thousand different ways is a daily miracle.
