They say experience is the greatest teacher. But what can you learn when your teacher is a pandemic?
As it turns out, plenty. Since COVID-19 hit in March, life has been stressful, tiring, and hard. The virus has been a crash course in society-wide disruption.
But this isn’t the pandemic’s only lesson. In North Carolina’s foster care program, resource parents, youth, GALs, and other stakeholders have made new discoveries about our resilience and our ability to overcome obstacles.
Faced with uncertainty and shifting new demands—including the 3 Ws, maintaining connections virtually, and online schooling—we have repeatedly risen to the occasion.
In recognition of this fact and to provide the support you need, this issue of Fostering Perspectives shares information, tips, and lessons learned to help you continue serving children, families, and communities.
