Updates from SaySo

SaySo stands for Strong Able Youth Speaking Out. When you think about resilience and youth, you can’t help but think about SaySo. All our programming is youth centered. It is either youth lead or youth guided.

Some recent changes to SaySo are that our program goes up to age 26+. The plus means there is no age cap. The youth in SaySo decided that young people should always have a place to connect with their peers and support. Secondly, we have expanded our work to not only including those in foster care, kinship care, group homes, and mental health placements, but we also support youth who have aged out and are experiencing homelessness.

If you are connected to youth and young adults ages 14-26+ in North Carolina, please connect them with SaySo. In addition, we have a new website that is still in the process of being updated but the best way to connect with us is www.saysonc.org or linktr.ee/saysonc

This helps you stay connected to our upcoming events like:

  • June 11th-June 13th is the Young Adult Leadership Council Orientation where we will have 27 youth voted into the council for the 2024-2025 year. This event is in Raleigh.
  • June 23rd-June 28th: TEAM-UP (Teens Engaged in Aspiring Mentorships and Uplifting Partnerships) will be held inWinston-Salem, NC. This is an overnight week long experience for youth ages 16 and older who are interested in leadership or starting their own business. All youth must have an adult who is able to stay with them for the full week. Youth will receive clothing allowance to purchase business professional clothing, experience college tours, job shadowing, and several other trips and workshops to help increase their professional skills and experiences. This year the focus will also focus on financial literacy and mental health.
